The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a winter weather advisory for areas of southern Kentucky that include Barren, Allen, Monroe, Metcalfe, Hart and Green counties.
“Locally intense snow showers are possible this evening, with reduced visibilities and quick accumulation on roadways,” the weather service stated. “Intermittent snow showers will continue overnight into Saturday morning, and could result in continued slick conditions, especially on untreated roads.”
The weather service stated accumulations of up to one inch are expected in many locations and could cause some slick spots on untreated roadways. Isolated amounts up to two inches can`t be ruled out for spots that see the most intense and repeated snow showers.
The winter weather is anticipated to begin at 6 p.m. and continue until noon Saturday.
